SG Diaries

For almost seven months of preparation, from snagging the cheapest plane ticket we could get, choosing a budget friendly accommodation and saving payday by payday (hahaha), our SG trip was a blast.

I wouldn’t say it was a hassle less trip or a perfect getaway but it truly sparks a new adventurer in me.  Being the wanderlust that I am, I volunteered to do the itinerary and all the stuffs related to our trip simply because I enjoyed doing so. I love the feeling of planning and imagining what to do when we are already there.

This is my first international trip without my ever loving parents who really triggered the wanderer in me. (I love you both). It was both thrilling and liberating I could say, and the girls I’m with were crazy, fun and spontaneous. Really, experiences are great when you share it with equally crazy people.  Thank you girls for putting up your energy and never gets angry whenever we got lost, unable to disembark at  our stop or went the opposite direction to our destination. I know it was tiring really but it was a great experience that we can always laugh about. Our LOL moments were uncountable I know, and what happens in SG stays in SG.

But here’s what I can share with you, our SG diary.

Straight from office, on a regular Friday afternoon, the six of us were excited and all. Carrying our luggage and backpacks, we left the office and enthusiastically went to the airport. Though many said that we might get stuck in traffic, thank God we didn’t and got there right on time or should I say earlier than expected.

DAY 0

Paid travel tax. Baggage check in. Immigration. A lot of chitchat and  after some waiting we rode 5J 803 bound to Singapore. We are tired, excited, and all that we all dozed off right there and then. After almost a 4 hour flight we arrived at Changi Airport a little before midnight. Immigration. Baggage claim. And we rode a Mercedes Benz Airport transfer to our booked accommodation. We arrived around 3 AM and somehow everything went on smoothly. A and J were hungry and grab some food downstairs while the rest of us washed up and sleep.

TRAVEL TIPS:

  • Wear comfortable shoes. SG is a walkable city. Yes indeed. We walked a lot. Really!
  • Wear comfortable clothes! the weather is pretty much similar to PH. Humid and all minus the pollution.
  • Keep LEFT!!! We are so accustomed to keep RIGHT here in PH but its opposite in SG.
  • Take the BUS with the help of google maps. Taking the subway would be an ease for some but we find it more fascinating to travel by bus in SG. Our accommodation was near a bus stop and we tried it because we are exhausted from walking.
  • Water is LIFE!!! Buy water in big containers and divide it to the group, you will save tons than buying individual small bottles.
  • Eat at hawkers! We thought that Food Republic was considered a hawker but some friends said otherwise. We enjoyed Food Republic food's especially "Indo Padang" at Orchard.
  • Plan your itinerary well. We planned  our IT well but we still missed some or opted to cross out some because of time constraint or tiredness, mostly laziness (hahaha)

Enjoy your VACAY! we didn't have a perfect IT or getaway. We are lost most of the time, we didn't follow or IT to the T, but we made sure we enjoyed our  Spur-of-the-moment decisions and just wander.
